Haven’t said hello in awhile….HEY FOLKS!

We’ve been playing lots the past couple of months, touring to Ontario and back, followed by three different shows at The Seahorse and three shows on the other side of the bridge (Dartmouth) at Jacob’s Lounge. I can’t decide which HRM show was my favorite, there were quite a few fun ones. We had a lot of movers and shakers at Jacob’s last week, and had a great time at both the DevCom Battle of The Bands and at the Japan Aid fundraiser, both at The ‘Horse. I can easily tell you which one was the worst show – there was a huge snowstorm on April Fools Day but we still played at Jacobs…to a small crowd of about 5 or 10 people. Silly Mother Nature playin’ jokes on us! I even wrote a song about it the next day..

We won’t be playing as much in the near future, we’ve got some gigs in NB at the end of May, and then it’s summer festival time! Until then, we’re trying to get in the groove of writing new tunes. If only we could lock ourselves away in a cabin and just play, play, play………………

Tonight was a semi-kick off to our Maritime/Ontario/QC tour…more of a punt. and not a good one. like me punting a football in heels or something. Anyways, we had radio play on Atlantic Beaver (K-Rock 105.5) and East Coast Now (Ocean 100) in Charlottetown – both with mentions of our show at The Alibi this weekend!! Not our first time being featured on those awesome local-talent-packed shows either.. THANK YOU!

Live 105 Showcase & Creative Flow on days off

Let me start off with something that everyone can relate to : holy fuck it’s cold outside!! BRRR!! At least it’s sun sun sunny
Now that I have my complaining over with…
Exciting Stuff!!! : This week our music is being played about 30 times on Halifax’s Live 105.5, the Maritimes only Modern Rock Station. We’re part of a showcase at Monte’s Grill on Waverly Road in Dartmouth, we’re playing this Friday with Air Traffic Control!! Tonight I’m moseyin’ on down to the station to record an interview that’s going to be played tomorrow night – so make sure to tune in! I have no idea what kind of questions I’m going to be asked, so it might get pretty interesting.
Today I have the day off of work and I’m pretty pumped about it. It’s great when you have a full day that you can relax and dive into your creativity. I always find it easier to write new songs, read, practice guitar, and write in my journal on days that I have head space to do so. I find myself working on band ‘business’ stuff every day – booking shows, researching radio stations and online media for each city we tour in, making contacts for interviews and features in papers, etc. – but doing this and working my day job and playing shows sometimes leads to lack of practice. I mean real practice. Scales and such. Barely happens these days. I have about 20 new songs that I’ve been working on, and only about half of them are actually done. Anyone want to volunteer to help me with all the business stuff so that I can finish those songs AND practice scales??? Like I said…days off the day job are a BLESSING!
I’m going to leave you with the new Radiohead video – thought it might be fitting with all the talk of radio…get it?! I can’t believe it’s already at over 4 Million Hits! I watched it for the first time last week and there were only 310 views..WOW! Someone please teach me to lose all inhibition and dance like Thom Yorke.

Fun Weekend in New Brunswick!

Last night ended with the four of us sitting around a big, wooden, victorian-like dining room table in this huge old brick hostel in Fredericton. We ate chips and each had a glass of red wine as we told jokes and poured smarties like shooting rainbows. There was a closet that had nothing in it but a plastic basket with about 20 local albums in it. It reminded us of the Wardrobe to Narnia – I had a burst of excitement and tried to climb into it and quickly shut the door behind me (obviously hoping to find the Lion and The Witch) but could feel the bottom of it start to cave as soon as I put weight on it. I had to hop out before anything magical was able to happen. Too bad really.

The beginning of the weekend was on Friday night at Peppers Pub in St. John. That was a pumped up show let me tell ya. I was a little anxious about it because I had been sick in bed for three days..literally. I had/still have remnants of, a really bad chest-turned-head-cold and had barely any voice to work with. Anyways, after two hot water/lemon/honey/gin concoctions that day, some strepsils, cough syrup, lots and lots of water, and a quick shot of jagger before hitting the stage, I was good to go. Mostly. By the end of the set my voice was SHOT. There was good energy in that room though, kept me going! Thanks to Three Sheet for having us out!!

That night we stayed at my Aunts place – she made us a big brunch in the AM and everything. Nice relaxing drive to Fredericton where we got some more food later on, then went to Value Village. Justin got a very nice shawl…er…I mean…poncho…and I got a cool velvet blazer thing. After loading in our gear and having a smooth sound check, we bought some more food and had a cute band supper at the hostel. Apparently we eat a lot on tour…yum!

Overall a really great roadtrip weekend – we love touring! Can’t wait for Ontario in March! We’re going to hostel/crash at friends places the whole way. Who needs fancy hotels??

We sold a bunch of CD’s and T-shirts throughout the weekend too – Thanks for the continued support!!!

We have so much going on! This blog has seriously been neglected…but look at all of our upcoming shows!!! –>

We just had a great weekend – four shows in three days! We had our live Halifax debut of our Joel Plaskett cover, a couple of GREAT dance parties, our first time playing tipsy together as a band unit, and our first real rockin’ house party! Good times all around.

We are totally confirmed that we’re heading to Ontario in March, so that’s pretty exciting. Oh! And it was announced today that we’ll be playing at the end of this month in St. John, New Brunswick with local hip hop FAVORITES Three Sheet! Friday, Jan. 28th at Peppers Pub – check it our it’s going to be awesome!!

So in 2010 we : wrote, produced, and recorded our first full-length album, ‘The World’s A Changin’ and went on a Maritime CD Release Tour, Hosted the Halifax Music Club at The Paragon in the month of May, had a feature on CBC Radio One’s Atlantic Airwaves, multiple radio play and live interviews on stations across the Maritimes, including charting as high as #3 on Halifax’s CKDU, designed and screen-printed our own T-Shirts, and played numerous shows – please vote for us for new band of the year!!!!

Joel Plaskett Tribute Album, New Tour Dates and more!

It’s been awhile since I posted – I’ve been on a couple of adventures recently, starting the road to discovering myself, new cultures and tradition, different music and creativity, the Wide Wide World…but for right now, I’m catching up with all my Light Brights stuff from my cozy new room in Halifax. I have a groovy new roomie too – Chad! He’s in the other room writing a couple of great new songs. I’ve been writing a lot too, and rumour has it that so has Andrew…so stay tuned for some new music from the band!!
Earlier today I recorded a poor-quality, short clip of a cover we’re working on for a Joel Plaskett Tribute Album that’s being put out by Gooseberry Records. Last year they released a Sloan Tribute and we covered The Rest of My Life. It was fun, but I think we stuck too close to the original, so we’re changing it up with Plaskett’s Face of The Earth. Check out it below!
We’re meeting up with Andrew in a couple of hours and heading to our show at Plan B in Moncton with The Sidewalks! We’ve got a couple of dates coming up actually :

June June June…what a lovely month. I might be a bit biased because it’s my birthday month (next week!). I’m in PEI for the summer, where I used to come and visit every summer as a kid, so I’m feeling fairly nostalgic. I remember June as Party Bingo month, and when we used to throw water balloons at each other in the cul-de-sac, and when we really got to start playing basketball and 500 (you know, that baseball hitting/catching game), and it was finally sunny enough outside to be able to put on little musical shows, scrape things up for yard sales, and put on lemonade stands to raise money for The Money And Food For The Poor People Club (no really!!)…none of this was in PEI mind you, but all really great kid memories. Anyways..not what this post is really suppose to be about.

Now that I’m older and wiser and putting on little musical shows for you fine folk (unfortunately not as much Party Bingo or Water Balloons though) I thought I’d let you know CURRENT reasons why this is my favorite month.

Now that we’re finally finished mixing our album (WAHOO!), and getting it mastered NEXT THURSDAY, we are concentrating on some other fun things…like! A Website overhaul!! Our awesome bassist/back up singer/recording engineer/co-songwriter/mechanic/band-van-owner Chad Harrington is also our most-of-the-time Graphic Designer and he will be giving this little website a sweet overhaul to make it all fancy and pretty. It will also look cooler because very soon we will be releasing our TOUR DATES, which will be in September/October..we’ll be hitting up all the sweet Maritime Venues.

While you wait on all this, you will get to see our Making Of Documentary which my brother, David Fulde, has been recording for about a month now. Interviews with each of us, along with some footage from the upcoming music video for, “Do They Know” will be pieced together to make a really wicked looking documentary. I’m pretty excited to see what he’s whipped up. Go David Go!

I can hear a youngster driving by on his bicycle by my window right now singing ‘birdie, a birdiee, birddieeee a birddieeee’ and I am jealous that he’s outside making music. So. That’s what I’m off to do now…I have a guitar though, and he only has a silly little bike-horn. Ha! Take that child. (just kidding!!)
